James "Howard" MacKinnon
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Monday, December 5, 2011 of James "Howard" MacKinnon of Andrews Lodge, Summerside, and formerly of Miscouche and Grand River, P.E.I., aged 97 years.
Howard was born on May 6, 1914 in Grand River to his late parents James S. and Mary Agnes (nee MacDonald) MacKinnon. Beloved husband of the late Beatrice (nee MacLellan) MacKinnon and also his second wife, the late Doris (nee Bernard) Dugay-MacKinnon. Loving father of Ozzie (Ruth) of Charlottetown, Earl (Bev) of Ontario, Marjorie (Keir) Johnson of Indian River, Norma (Martin) Kelly of Mermaid, Linda (Wayne) MacLennan of Victoria West, Joe (Leah) of DeSable and Mary (Paul) MacKinnon-Walsh of Stratford. Also lovingly remembered by his stepchildren Bernadette (Ivan) Curley, Ron (Judy) Dugay, Sonny (Norma) Dugay, Gary (Julie) Dugay, Clair (Mike) Moore, Florina (Austin) MacLeod, Bruce (Barb) Dugay, Gerald and Michael Dugay, his 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 22 step-grandchildren, 33 step-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and god-children.
Survived by his sister, Alice Dunnigan of Iowa, U.S.A., sisters-in-law Mary and Rita McLellan and Margaret (MacLellan) Doucette.
Besides his parents and his wives, Howard was predeceased by six brothers and one sister.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Thursday, December 8, then to St. Patrick's Church, Grand River, for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery.
Memorial donations in Howard's memory to St. Patrick's Church, Grand River, or St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche, would be greatly appreciated.
