With great sadness, we announce the passing of Gloria Jean Wetmore on November 20, 2011. Gloria leaves her beloved son Brian Kiloh and her granddaughters Brooklyn and Katelyn Kiloh, in whom she found immeasurable joy. Gloria also leaves and is deeply missed by her sister  Deanna Pershbacher (Marvin), brother Doug Wood (Pat), nieces Kristina and Susanne Pershbacher, and nephews Devon and David Wood and their families. Gloria was predeceased by her husband Michael Wetmore and her brother Gordon Wood.
Gloria grew up in Stratford, Ontario, the daughter of the late Maud and Robert Wood. She moved to Vancouver in the early 1960s. She loved the city and remained active there with her many friends throughout her life. She later put down roots and developed new friendships in Madeira Park on the Sunshine Coast.
After a long and successful career in the investment industry, which included tenures with Draper Dobie, Dominion Securities, M.K. Wong and Associates and Phillips Hagar & North, Gloria retired in 2004. Gloria’s intelligence, integrity, hard work and wisdom graced her relationships with all who knew her professionally. Her former partner Bob McGill recently recalled Gloria as a wonderful person who had an enormously positive influence on the private client/mutual fund areas of PH&N during her years there. Bob captured it when he said that Gloria’s wonderful sense of humour and enthusiasm will be cherished forever by those who were fortunate enough to work with her.
To her many friends, Gloria will always be remembered for her warmth, keen wit and generosity of spirit. Gloria had a passion for literature; she was a life-long lover of theatre, travel and her garden. She brought enthusiasm to all her pursuits including the game of golf.
Gloria was, a vital, active and positive woman. She had that exquisite quality of embracing friends and family in a way that left each person feeling better for her company. We deeply mourn her loss but celebrate the privilege of having known her.
“Mom, I love you with all my heart. We left nothing unsaid or unresolved in this world and I will honour your generous and loving spirit throughout my life. Thank you for showing me how a loving parent, a true friend, and a good citizen conduct themselves. I will not let you down.”
A private remembrance and celebration of Gloria’s life will be held in the New Year. The family wishes to thank those friends who so lovingly provided care and support to Gloria during her final weeks.
For those who wish to do so, donations to St. Mary’s Hospital in Sechelt, B.C. would be welcomed.
