PARKS, Robert Gale “Bob” – 86, The Mira Long Term Care Centre, Truro, formerly of Upper Stewiacke, passed away peacefully, Monday morning, December 5, 2011, at The Mira. Born October 30, 1925, in Upper Musquodoboit, he was a son of the late Christina Parks. Robert was a member of Upper Stewiacke United Church. He was a woodsman all his life and retired from Department of Lands and Forest in 1990. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was well known for his marksmanship. Robert is survived by his children, Gail (Larry) Cullen, Stellarton; Robert, Jr., Jeanne (John) Koster, Ernie (Val), all of Alberta; June (Elwood) Russell, Onslow Mountain; 14 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Andrews, Truro; Mary Stevens (Jim Morrison), Mechanics Settlement, New Brunswick; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis Lavinia (Colburne); daughter, Lynda in infancy; brother, William “Billy” Higgins. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Robert’s family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Thursday, December 8, 2011, where the funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2011, Reverend Marilyn MacDonald officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Upper Stewiacke. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Robert’s memory to Stewiacke Valley Museum or Riverside Cemetery are welcomed.
