GASS, FLORENCE WINNIFRED (TITUS) - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of F. Winnifred (Binnie Titus) Gass at her home on December 5th, 2011. Born in Titusville on December 26th, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Clara Maude Titus and the wife of the late W. Everett Gass. Binnie attended Saint John High School and Modern Business College. She worked at T. McAvity & Sons and the CNR Freight office in her younger years. She was baptized in Douglas Avenue Christian Church and was also a former member of Disciples of Christ Church, Saint John and Edith Avenue Baptist Church. She grew up in Titusville, later lived in Saint John, then moved to the Robertson Road, Hampton, in 1981. Binnie’s life was centered on her Lord and Savior and her family and friends. She also enjoyed reading and painting. She was known for her gentle, humble, kind and loving spirit. She is survived by her daughter’s Suzanne (Blair) Welch, Cynthia (Barry) Grimmer and daughter-in-law Sandra Gass; her sons John (Joanne) Gass, Donald (Wanda) Gass, James (Janet) Gass. Loved by her grandchildren Marianne Hanson and Brent Welch, Melanie, Jessica Rhaye, Dustin and Colby Grimmer and Caitlin Griffiths, Trevor, Cole, Joshua, Jacob, Chelsea, Mitchell, Alex, Evan, Andrew and Ryan Gass. Great grandchildren Matthew, Elizabeth and Benjamin Hanson, Jimmy, Jenna and Rowan Welch, Jack and Lacey Winnifred Griffiths, Ryder Marshall, Desira and Ethan Gass. One sister Betty (Ray) Jessome, sisters-in-law Shirley Gass, Jean Kindt, Mildred Burtrum and Dorothy Titus. Special friends Barb McNiven, Alison Flynn, Marie Kilpatrick, Shirley Bettle and Norma Fawcett as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband W. Everett Gass and son Timothy; sisters Mae Boyce, Marjorie Stockford, Eileen Bettle, Irene Cobb, Myrtle Titus, Doris Mallory; brothers Harold, Theodore and Lewis Titus.
Following cremation, the visitation will be held at Reid’s Funeral Home, 1063 main Street, Hampton, NB (506) 832-5541 on Thursday, December 8th, 2011 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. The funeral will be held at Reid’s Funeral Home on Friday, December 9th, 2011 at 1:00pm. Interment will take place at Titus Hill Cemetery, Titusville, NB. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation, the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Titus Hill Cemetery would be appreciated by the family. www.reidsfh.com
