HORSMAN, REGINALD L. - Reginald L. Horsman, 82, of Steeves Mountain, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L Dumont Hospital on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 following a lengthy illness. Born in Berry Mills, he was the son of the late Alton and Bessie (Mullin) Horsman. During his 33 year career with Canadian National Railways, Reg worked as a brakeman and conductor before his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the Transportation Union and CN Pensioners. Reg belonged to the FMCA for several years and enjoyed vacationing in his motor home with family and friends. He spent many hours tending to his vegetable garden; was an insatiable bookworm; read the paper cover to cover daily; and enjoyed country and bluegrass music, particularly the fiddle. As an avid baseball fan, he enjoyed watching any games involving his favorite team, the Toronto Blue Jays; but the sports he enjoyed most were the ones his grandchildren were involved in. Most important to Reg was time spent with his family. Reg will be deeply missed by his wife of over 57 years, Rita (Wilson) Horsman; son Reg, Jr. (Linda) of Fredericton; daughters, Candace Hossack (Brock) of Fredericton and Robin White (Andrew) of Quispamsis; precious grandchildren, Rebecca Horsman, Christopher Horsman (Abigail), Johnathan Hossack and Matthew White. He is also survived by brothers Doug (Faye) of Riverview and Gerald of Berry Mills; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his infant sister, Francis; sister, Muriel Geldart (2003) and brother, Lorne (2004).
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, December 9, 2011, 1:30 pm, Rev. Dr. Rick Thomas and Rev. Don MacDougall officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Center following the service. Interment, Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
