Conrad Bleakney

BLEAKNEY, CONRAD - Conrad Alexander Bleakney, 94, of Salisbury passed away December 10, 2011 at the Veteran's Health Care Center with his family at his side. Born in Salisbury he was a son of the late Alexander and Glennie (Alward) Bleakney. A Veteran of World War II, he served throughout continental Europe with the Canadian Infantry Training Corps. Connie retired as a Protective Officer with the Department of Fisheries and was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He served terms on Salisbury Village Council, Greater Moncton Town Planning and the local School Board and was a former member of Branch 31, Royal Canadian Legion and the Salisbury Lions Club. A long time member of Salisbury Baptist Church, he served on many Boards and offices throughout the years. Survived and sadly missed by his daughter Shirley Colpitts (late Ronald); his grandsons Wayne (Heather) of Riverview, Brent (Kathy) and Keith of Salisbury, Bradley of Upper Coverdale; great grandchildren Laura, Evan, Amy, Alex and Tyler and great great granddaughter Kattie. Survived also by a sister Hattie Alward (late Dana), brother Stewart (late Margaret) and sister in law Laurana Bleakney all of Salisbury and by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his beloved wife Elsie (2007); sister Irene Lounsbury and brothers Arnold and Lewis.
Resting at the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with a tribute to a Veteran service Monday at 6:30 p.m. followed by visitation 7 to9 p.m. The Funeral will be held from the Salisbury Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 13 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Rob Nickerson and Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Interment at Pine Hill Cemetery, Salisbury.
