Peacefully at the Maplewood Manor, Alberton, on Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, of Raymond Leo Stewart of the Maplewood Manor, and formerly of Glengarry, P.E.I., age 91 years. Veteran of the Second World War. Beloved husband of Helen (nee McDonald) Stewart. Born in West Point on Sept. 29, 1918, he was the son of the late Stephen and Lucy (nee LeClair) Stewart. Lovingly father to his children Lorne (Connie) of Cobourg Ont., Kathleen Stewart of Port Coquitlam B.C., Blair (Donna) of Charlottetown, Basil (Gail) of Summerside, Doris Stewart of Charlottetown, and Stephen of Glengarry. Cherished grandfather to nine grandchildren, Ray (Tracy) Chad (Danielle) and Allan (Sara) Stewart, Christine (Bruce) Burnham, Colin, Jackie-Ann (Matthew) Bonisteel, Rolanda (William) Dunsford, Mary Jane (Steve) Dyer, Major (Holly) Stewart as well as eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Lawrence (Mary) of West Point and Willard (Simone) of Saint John, N.B. He was predeceased by a son Allan as well as two brother’s and a sister, Clifford (Georgie), Harvey who died in active duty overseas and Dorothy (James) Gallant. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Funeral on Saturday morning, Nov. 14 from St. Mark’s Church, Burton, Lot 7 for funeral mass at 11 a.m. Interment in the Parish Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. St. Anthony’s Branch #27 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home Friday evening at 6:45 p.m.
