It is with great sadness that the family of the late Augustus C. (Gus) Garnier announce his sudden passing in St. George’s on Monday, November 9, 2009 at the age of 75 years. He will be sadly missed by: his loving wife, Liz; six sons: Jim, Greg, Shane, all of British Columbia, Jason (Jennifer) of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Wade (Jolene) of British Columbia, Evan of British Columbia; three daughters: Michelle and Jacqueline, both of Edmonton, Alberta, Linnea of British Columbia; two brothers: Alvin (Gail) Garnier of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Harry Young of Campbell River, British Columbia; two sisters: Betty Garnier of St. George’s, Mavis (Lawrence) White of St. George’s; two aunts: Angela Benes of Stephenville, Gladys Garnier of Stephenville Crossing; 16 grandchildren and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth Garnier and father, Hubert Blanchard; one brother, Howard Young; one sister, Patricia Young. Friends may call at St. Joseph’s Parish, St. George’s on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 14th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Parish in St. George’s with interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Shallop Cove. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations to the family would be greatly appreciated c/o Betty Garnier.
