With sadness, we announce the death of Lucien (Lou) Belliveau, age 83, on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
Born in Boudreau Village, NB he was a son of the late Willie and Mary (Auffrey) Belliveau.
A member of the Holy Family Parish, he was a member of the K of C, being a faithful server at funerals, and was active in all their events, including the bowling league, graduation breakfasts and served on the committee for St. Charles Elementary School Breakfast Club. For many years he was caller and worker with "Nativity of Our Lady Wednesday Night Bingo". He was a diehard Toronto Maple Leaf fan. A former employee with Tantramar Motors he worked 39 years, continuing a family tradition.
Lou will be sadly missed by his children, Pauline (Harold) Pettigrew, Mary Ann and Charlene (Drew) Moore, all of Amherst and Tom (Arlene) of Moncton; grandchildren, Scott and Mike Pettigrew, Mitchell Belliveau and Willie and Gillian Moore; great grandchildren, Nate Cuvelier, Riley and Braden Pettigrew; a sister, Corinne Porter, Amherst; brothers, Emile (Florence), Amherst and Paul, Boston MA.; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife the former Edna LeBlanc (1990), brother, Gerald (1993).
Lou's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home (902-667-8777), Amherst from where visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 2 pm at Holy Family Parish, Amherst. Burial in the parish cemetery. Parish prayers will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 8:30.
