Jean (Olsen) Amos passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side at the High-Crest Senior home in Sherbrooke, N.S. On Dec. 13, 2011, at age 91.
Jean was originally from Cape Breton and moved to British Columbia after graduating from nursing school at Sydney hospital. After several years as matron of a small hospital in the interior of B.C., she moved to Vancouver where she met and married Vernon Amos (who predeceased her in 2010). Together they ran The Spruces Art Gallery in Ingonish for nearly 20 years and later settled in Baddeck.
Jean was an avid traveler and was known for her wonderful tales. She is also remembered for her generosity, her sharp wit, her compassion and her truly independent spirit.
Jean is survived by daughters, Cynthia Ahern and Patrice Amos; son-in-law, Robert Ahern; grandsons, Eric and Brendan Ahern; as well as brothers, Murdock and Roy Olsen and sisters, Marie Langley and Marina MacPhail. She also has many nieces and nephews.
