Amos John Ramsay
Born: August 25th, 1916
Peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, with his family by his side following a brief illness with cancer on Saturday, April19, 2008, of Amos John Ramsay on Travellers Rest and formerly of Northport, age 92 years. Veteran of the Second World War. Beloved husband of 68 years to Margaret (nee Cahill) Ramsay. Born Aug. 25,1916, he was the son of the late Peter C. and Mizzie Ellen (nee Coughlin) Ramsay. Cherished father to Peggy Young, Ken (Vivian), Eunice (George) Wall, Helen (Preston) Murphy, John (Una), Brenda Simmons, Ann, Claude (Sharon), Eleanor (Ray) Wakelin, Vicki (Mike) Henwood, Barb McInnis (John), Marilyn Olson, Pauline (Blair) Gallant. Also father-in-law to Nadine Ramsay. Loving grandfather to 41 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Dear brother to Bud (late Mary) Ramsay, Fred (late Gladys) Ramsay, Bill (Joan) Ramsay and Lucy (Arthur) Enman. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons Amy and Roy, three grandchildren Tracy, Ruby, and J.J. as well as two sons-in-law Robert Simmons and Dave Olson. He was also predeceased by brothers and sisters, James (active duty overseas) Roy, Arthur (late Marion) Alfred, Maxwell (late Dorothy) Lillian (late Cedric) Gallant, Vera (late James) Smith Edna (late Perley) McNeill and Mary and Elizabeth in infancy. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton, until noon Wednesday then to the Gordon Memorial United Churc,h Alberton, for funeral service at 2 p.m. Rev. John A.C. Wilson officiating. Interment to follow in the Elmsdale United Church Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. As an expression of sympathy memorials to the Elmsdale United Church cemetery fund would be gratefully appreciated. The members from the Bloomfiled Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home Tuesday evening at 6:45 p.m. www.rooneyfh.ca.
