Gordon Bennett McGrath

Proud veteran of the Royal Newfoundland 166th Regiment, Gordon Bennett McGrath, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 15th, 2011. He was surrounded by his family and loving wife of 73 years, Violet (nee Kavanagh). Predeceased by his parents, Michael and Emma (nee Wall), his brother Michael, sister Winnie Reynolds, brothers-in-law Ron Reynolds and Jack Barkwill, sons-in-law George Mills and Lanny Ross and grandson Paul Ross. Member of Branch #1 on Blackmarsh Road, Gordon loved every moment of life and will be loved and remembered by his wife Violet; 12 children: Irene, Winnie (Carl), Lorraine (Don), Bob (Cathy), Hilda (Cyril), Ronnie, Jayne (Edward), Gordon, Leslie (Sherry), Mary Lou (Colin), Alicia (Robert) and Gary (Bun); his sister Mary Barkwill and sisters-in-law Hilda and Betty. Cherished grandfather to more than 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Special thanks to the wonderful staff of St. Clare’s CCU for all your loving care and support. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass on Monday, December 19th, at 9:30 a.m. from Corpus Christi Church. Interment to follow at the Field of Honor, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to VON, with many thanks to the VON staff.
