SOOLEY, Bernard Franklin, March 7, 1920 - November 12, 2009– Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Complex on Thursday, November 12, 2009, Bernard Sooley of Heart’s Delight (he resided at the DVA Pavilion for the past six months), aged 89 years. WWII Veteran (Royal Navy), member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 62 years, member of the Royal Navel Association and Sgt. of the Canadian Rangers (22 years). Leaving with precious memories wife Jessie of 63 years; four daughters: Barbara (Don Harris), Norma (Harold Hickman), Beverly (Mervin Higdon), Gloria (Jim Peddle); three sons: Merrill (Gary Moulton), Paul (Norma), Dean (Coleen); thirteen grandchildren: Danielle (Scott), Scott (Ashley), Gill (Chris), Susan (Drew), Jennifer (Scott), Sam (Kristen), Jessica (Justin), Shane, Michael (Emma), Candice (Mike), Jessie (Sack), Amanda and Joshua and three great-grandchildren: Mary, Ella and Lilly. He is also lovingly remembered by special friend Margaret Loder; brother Donald; sisters: Marion Puddister and Alvina Williams; sisters-in-law: Eileen, Julie and Mable; brothers-in-law: Charlie and George Thorne, as well as a number of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Resting at St. Matthew’s Church Hall, Heart’s Delight/Islington on Saturday, November 14th, 2:00 - 5:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., Sunday, November 15th, 2:00 - 5:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held from St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Heart’s Delight on Monday, November 16th at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at St. Matthew’s Anglican Cemetery. Special thanks to Cathy and the staff of the 2nd floor DVA. As an expression of sympathy, flowers gratefully declined, donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a Charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Warren’s Funeral Home, Dildo.
