HOWARD, JOAN - It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Maureen (Connors) Howard announces her death on December 19, after struggling with a lengthy illness, in Portland, Maine. Born in St. John's Newfoundland in 1933 to the late Capt. Thomas and Margaret (White) Connors, she is predeceased by her brother Bill, and sisters Margaret Daly and Teresa Wargo. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Ross, one son Derek (Lisa) of Princeton, Maine, two daughters Rossann (Andy) Saint John, and Sonia (Joe) of Hamilton, Mass, two sisters, Nella Foley, of St. John's and Kay Vance of Toronto Ontario, many nieces and nephews. Joan was devoted to her family. She was a wonderful and caring wife and mother who enjoyed nothing more than family gatherings and visits from her grandchildren Jenna, Nick, Hope, Camille, Kylie, Michaela and Eric.
She is resting peacefully at Hobbs Funeral Home 230 Cottage Road South Portland, Maine 04106. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church, Baileyville, Maine on Wednesday, December 28th at 2 pm.
