John "Jan" Endendijk
Endendijk, John “Jan”, 71, Truro, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at the home of his daughter Amanda MacKay, Bible Hill, surrounded by his wife and loving family. Born in Ermelo, The Netherlands, he was a son of the late Gerrit and Rikje (Woutersen) Endendijk. John came to Canada in May of 1958 where he started farming and later went into Insurance Sales. He loved his children and grandchildren very much and was loved by many in the community and was well known for his great sense of humor. John gave his life to Christ in 1972 and now sings in Heaven’s Choir. He is survived by his wife the former Florence Ann MacPhee; son, Andrew (Stacey), Bible Hill; daughters, Amanda MacKay (Trevor), Bible Hill; Sarah Jamieson (Adam) and Kimberley Endendijk (Christopher) all of Truro; grandchildren, Courtney, Selena, Christian, Keira, David, Patience, Danielle; brothers, Everet, Gjis (Stevie), Bertus, Willem (Leny), all of Ermelo, The Netherlands, Gerrit (Willy), Putten, The Netherlands; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Willem in infancy. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9pm today, December 22, in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro. Funeral service will be held 2pm Friday, December 23, in the Peoples Church, 15 Elm Street Truro, Pastor Ken Fillmore officiating, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will be held at a later date in the Brookside Cemetery, Mill Village. Family flowers only. Donations in John’s memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
