It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Wilfred Kendell, age 87 announce his passing on December 18, 2011 at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Codroy on October 27, 1924, he was the son of Henry and Frances (nee Carter) Kendell. He was a carpenter all of his working life and was retired from the Parks Division of the Provincial Government. He is survived by his wife Helena; daughter Nora (Greg) Dartmouth, NS; son Leonard (Marie),Codroy; brother Elias (Marcella), Codroy; sister Dorcas, South Branch; five grandchildren: Jonathan, Raylene, Alvin, Angela, and Adam; five great-grandchildren and a large circle of nieces and nephews. He was predeased by his son John Charles; brothers: Ernest, Walter, Herbert Thomas, Herbert Samuel, and sisters Norah Jane and Helen. Funeral Service was held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Codroy, with Rev. Peter Boote officiating. Internment followed at the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port aux Basques.
