Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at the Health Sciences Centre after a short illness, surrounded by her family, Edna G. Fitzgerald, aged 94 years. Formerly from Harbour Buffett, Placentia Bay, she was a resident of St. Patrick’s Mercy Home. Predeceased by her husband Felix in 1972, one sister Eliza and four brothers Aubrey, Stanley, Louis and Albert. Leaving to mourn one son John (Cathy) Windsor, N.S.; three daughters: Carol Eustace (Jim), Arlene Cake and Marilyn Pike (Dale); eight grandchildren: Christopher Eustace (Marsha), Heather Healey (Tim), Toronto, David Fitzgerald (Shimmer), BC, Jennifer Eagan (Jamie), Toronto; Danny Cake (Sheena), Bordon, ON, Gregory Cake (Angie), Amanda Cake (John), Matthew Pike (Lindsay); five great-grandchildren: Keira and Ryan Eustace, Alexander Cake, Parker Eagan and Charlie Cake. Also leaving to mourn one sister, Evelyn Dicks and three brothers: Freeman (Ethel), Hr. Grace, Donald (Pearl), Fortune and Charlie (Audrey), Come By Chance; two sisters-in-law: Lilly from Northumberland, England and Dorcas from Come By Chance; also a large circle of nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends may visit the family at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Thursday, December 22 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association or to a charity of one’s choice.
