JERRY PASKARUK
Jerry Paskaruk, age 73, beloved husband of Jo-Anne Paskaruk of Emma Lake, SK passed away peacefully at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon on Saturday, November 7, 2009 after a very brief illness. Jerry leaves to mourn his passing: his wife Jo-Anne; his daughters Debbie (Ray) Tooley, Janet (Marv) Silde, Jerri-Lynn (Mark) Palmer; his son Benjamin Paskaruk (Emily Anderson); his beloved grandchildren Laura Wolford, Jenna (Jeff) Rempel, Scott Wolford, Heidi Wolford, Dustin Millis, Dean Millis, “Little†Ben Millis, Braden Silde, Hannah Silde, Kristopher Palmer and Aimée Palmer; his great-grandchildren Madison Patterson, Jaelyn Rempel, Angel Rempel, Kaden Rempel, Kyden Wolford and Zachary Wolford; his brothers-in-law Alec Chotowetz, Trevor (Charlene) Young; his sisters-in-law Audrey (Randy) Branch, Colleen (Randy) Cain; his aunt Lena Woroniuk as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by: his parents John and Victoria Paskaruk; his sister Iris Chotowetz; his brother Bill Paskaruk; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Lloyd and Bernice Young and his brothers-in-laws Murray and David Young. Jerry was born on October 14, 1936 in Prince Albert, SK and lived and attended school in Meath Park, SK. Upon graduation Jerry enlisted in the Royal Canadian Airforce where he served until 1964. He then entered the public service working for Canada Manpower and then for Employment Development until 1991. Jerry finished his career with the Prince Albert Chamber of Commerce where was employed as General Manager, finally retiring in 1997. Jerry persued his love of the military after he left the Airforce by serving as Commanding Officer of # 38 Anavet Air Cadet Squadron and as 2nd in Command “B†Company North Saskatchewan Regiment.
He was also an active member of the Lions Club International for 40 years achieving a Life membership, his Melvin Jones Fellowship, a Judge Brian Stevenson Fellowship and in 2008 he was inducted into the Saskatchewan Lion Hall of Fame. He served Lionism as District Governor from 1988-1989. Jerry loved to fish and golf. He did one very well and the other passably. His greatest love though was his yard and gardens. His mother-in-law once said “Jerry could plant stones and make them growâ€. Jerry enjoyed life and loved his family especially his grandchildren. We are all better people for having known and loved him. It is the family’s request that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Lions Foundation of Canada, P.O. Box 907, Oakville, ON L6J 5E8 or the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21 from St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church – 60 – 12 Street East, Prince Albert, SK. Pastor Dennis Serfas will officiate. Officers and members of the Royal Canadian Legion will confer veteran honours. Interment of cremated remains will take place in
