It is with deep sadness that we, the family of George Penny announce his sudden passing on Sunday, Nov.15, 2009, at home.
Born in North Sydney, July 29, 1929, he was the son of the late Alexander and Nellie (Hawley) Penny.
George worked for many years at the Department of Public Works in both North Sydney and Sydney Mines. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 8, Sydney Mines. There will be an empty spot on the Middle River where he spent most of his time fishing.
He is survived by his children, Kevin, Sheila, Carol, Darlene, Wayne, Ronnie, Alex, George and Gail; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Alex (Ug), Jack, Bud and Gordie, a sister, Sis, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, George was predeceased by a brother Mansel.
At his request, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
