ZANDER – Ernest (Ernie) Ferdinand age 74 of Herbert, SK, passed away on November 12, 2009, in Herbert, SK. He was born on March 26, 1935, in Herbert, SK. He is survived by his loving wife Sylvia and son Graeme; brother Otto and his wife Helen; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil and Emma Zander and a sister and twin brothers in infancy. He wed Sylvia Claire Oakley on May 28, 1958, at New Westminster, BC. Following his retirement from a career as a Canada and Alberta Land Surveyor, Ernie began pastoral studies and embarked on a new career. He was installed as Pastor of the Hodgeville Lutheran Parish on June 6, 2002, serving Zion Flowing Well, Salem Hodgeville and Trinity St. Boswell’s until his passing. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. from St. Paul Lutheran Church in Herbert, SK, with Pastor Greg Kiel officiating and Marion Solberg was the organist. The honorary pallbearers were all his friends. The scripture readers were: Iline Redekopp, Bev Seibel and Fay Silzer. The ushers were: George Coates, Les Heffley, Leon Jacobs and Robert Jacobs. The pallbearers were: Elwood Foss, Lorne Kingston, John Maloney, Eric Weigelt and Doug Ingram. The interment took place at the Herbert Cemetery, Herbert, SK.
