Carmella Boyce, age 89 of the Cove Guest Home, Sydney, and a former resident of Maple Avenue, Glace Bay, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the Guest Home.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Sarah (Moore) Nolan.
Carmella was a former member of Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay. She enjoyed playing bingo, baking, cooking and camping in Prince Edward Island. Carmella had a great sense of humor and a very compassionate nature; as she was always there to help those in need. But mostly, Carmella will be remembered as a very dedicated mother and grandmother who loved her children.
She is survived by two daughters, Doneshia (Randy Morean), Edwinna (Roger Munroe), both in Sydney; four sons, Floyd (Barbara), Halifax, Ray (Zelda),Sydney, Gary, Halifax and Leo (Janet), Glace Bay.
Carmella is also survived by two brothers, Joe (Emma), Glace Bay, Terrance, Halifax; two sisters, Ernestine (George), Halifax, Charlena MacMullin, Ottawa and six grandchildren, Pamela, Liam, Sarah, Cory, Emily, Courtney.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Joseph Boyce; four sisters, Margaret, Etta, Anne, Christie; four brothers, Billy, John ‘Jit’, Angus and Leo.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home,16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass officiated by Rev. Conrad Edwards is Monday morning at 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Church. Following the mass a reception will be held in the parish hall. Interment at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
