May 22nd, 1943, - Nov. 19th, 2009. Passed away peacefully after a short illness. Predeceased by his sister Dorothy Ann 1972 (Orv Matthews), father Charles (1974), mother Beatrice (2009). Left with many fond memories his wife and best friend of 44 years, Sheila (nee Hollahan); sons Greg (St. John’s) and Karl (Ont); brothers: Gord (Joan), Alan (Barb) and John (Debbie); sisters: Cynthia (John) Whelan and Val (Paul) Kennedy; uncle Jim and aunt Win; nephews: Sean, Cory, Derrick, Gary, Matthew and Andrew Carew, Russ Matthews, Shane and Keegan Kennedy; nieces: Meegan, Maria and Wendy Carew; special nieces: Stephanie (Carl) Hutton and Debbie Murphy. Special friends: Alex Jamieson, Jack Samson, Bob Ryan and many other relatives and friends. Doug was a retiree (1993) of Nfld. Power (30 yrs) and an avid bowler with the Commercial Bowling League for many years. He loved time spent at the Carew family cabin on Salmon Cove Beach. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Saturday from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. - 9 p.m Funeral service will take place on Monday from Caul’s Chapel at 9:30 a.m. Cremation to follow. No flowers by request.
