BURT, OTTO B. - The passing of Otto Bramwell Burt occurred Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the Veteran’s Health Unit, Fredericton. He was 92. Born in Sydney, NS on July 14, 1919, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Burt. Otto was a member of the United Church of Canada. He was manager and co-owner of Engine Machine Shops. A WWII Veteran, Otto served overseas. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No.4 Fredericton, Charter Member of the Kenmore Fishing Club, Charter Member of the Capital Winter Club and a former member of the Fredericton Golf Club. He was an active curler. Otto was the last surviving member of his immediate family and is survived by a son, Charles Burt, of Surrey, BC; and by very special and dear friends, Don and Louise McConaghy. Otto was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Agnes (Mann) Burt (2007); brothers, Roy and Hershel; and sisters, Maisie and Enid.
Visitation for Otto will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am followed by a funeral service to be held from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment at a later date. A Legion Tribute Service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday morning at 10:45 am. Memorial contributions to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to another charity of your choice would be appreciated.
