With sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Reginald Herbert Moore, on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Robert and Ruth (Gates) Moore and was a longtime resident of Alexander Street, Glace Bay.
Reg was a carpenter by trade, working for Seymour Forgeron, in the Glace Bay area. He was proud to be a life-long union member, Local 1588, receiving a 50-year pin and gold watch. He also was co-owner of a small television repair and rental business.
He is survived by sisters, Sarah Smith, Lower Sackville, and Ruth (Harold) Martell, Glace Bay; nephew, Christopher McNeil (Jeannie); nieces, Lisa MacNeil (Harold) and Heather McKegney (Ryan); grandnephew, Jason McNeil; grandnieces, Bethany McNeil, Faith MacNeil and Katie McKegney and aunt, Joy Gates.
Besides his parents, Reg was predeceased by his only brother, Stephen, brother-in-law, and best friend, Archie Smith and uncle and friend, Henry Gates.
We wish to extend special thanks to the staff of Fisherman’s Cove at Harbourstone for their patience and care.
In honoring Reg’s wishes, there will be no visitation, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Glace Bay.
Donations in Reg’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Church, the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.
