BROWN, NORA BERNADETTE (GILLIS) - After a courageous battle with cancer it is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nora Bernadette (Gillis) Brown on January 2, 2012 at the DECH in Fredericton. Born February 26, 1924 in Mulgrave, NS, she was predeceased by her parents Neil & Mary (Hayes) Gillis and by siblings Ann, Ida, Tina, Stella, Margaret, Rodrick, Alec and Harold and by daughter Nora.
She is survived and will be missed by her loving husband of 58 years, John Aubrey Brown and by daughters Jacqueline LePage and Eve and by sons Philip (Anita) and Iain (Lori). She will also be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Diane Williams, Shawn, Angie and James Brown; by several great grandchildren and by many nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the Maritimes and beyond. Nora was the light of our lives, a loving wife and mother whose love and charity to all will always be cherished.
She was a former member of the IODE, the Oromocto Hospital Auxiliary and a lifelong Conservative. Nora will be dearly missed by the many friends and acquaintances she acquired through her community work and political activities. They are far too many to be mentioned here, but they will all be lovingly remembered by our family for the friendship they gave to Nora.
Visitation will take place at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Oromocto on Thursday, January 5th at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery at a later date.
