It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Roderick Stanley Jones, on Friday, Dec. 30, 2011.
Born in Glace Bay, Stan was the son of the late Roderick and Florence (McKinnon) Jones.
Stan enjoyed reading and going to the woods with his chainsaw to cut his wood for winter. It is in the woods he passed away doing what he truly loved. The family would like to say thank you to everyone who worked hard to save Stan. Your efforts are not gone unnoticed.
Stan will be missed by his daughters, Janet Batstone, Glace Bay, and Dawn (Joey) O’Neill, Edmonton; and his granddaughter, Emilie, Glace Bay; his six siblings, Helen (Bill) Stone, Halifax, Leonard (Mary), Lingan Road, Stella (Keith) Phillips, Dartmouth, Alex (Ann) Tower Road, Cindy (David) Kinsman, Dartmouth, and Alice Morrison (Tommy), Tower Road. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Stan was predeceased by brothers, Thomas, Clarence and Eric.
There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2012.
Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Following the grave side service there will be a time to share laughs and stories at the Tower Road Fire Hall.
