1934 ~ 2011
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Barry McLeod Beesley on December 28, 2011 after a long illness.
Barry was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on April 12, 1934 to May and Grover Beesley.
He will be lovingly remembered by Margaret (Marg), his wife of 53 years, sons Doug of Edmonton, Kevin (Debbie) of Kamloops, and daughter Kathryn (Pete) Fidanza of Kamloops. Barry loved the frequent visits and hugs from grandsons Nicholas and Michael Fidanza as well as Robert and Jacob Beesley. Barry is also survived by brother Robert (Gail) Beesley of Regina Saskatchewan, brother-in-law David (Blythe) Spink of Ponoka, Alberta and cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Barry was a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, and the University of British Columbia. He taught school in Melfort, Saskatchewan, Marengo, Saskatchewan and Kamloops, BC. He taught English, Social Studies, Special Education and later was a librarian. In earlier years he was a coach for hockey, soccer and curling. Barry was a very active member on the church board of Mount Paul United Church, as well as in the choir.
Barry's major interests were family history and exploring family ancestral areas. He was privileged to do a lot of touring in Canada, Great Britain and took a number of cruises.
A Special thank you to the caring staff of the Royal Inland Hospital, Ponderosa and especially to the Overlander Extended Care Staff (Evergreen). Your hard work and dedicated care are greatly appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will take place on January 7, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Paul United Church, 140 Laburnum Street. No flowers by request.
