Snyder, Catherine “Viola” Odessa, age 100 of Milford Haven Nursing Home, Guysborough formerly of Queensport passed away January 2, 2012 in Milford Haven Nursing Home. Born at Halfway Cove, NS she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Elizabeth (George) Snyder.
Viola was a resident of Queensport most of her life where she was a member of Christ Church, Queensport. She loved to knit, sew and enjoyed music. Viola was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by daughters Joan George (Walter), Queensport; Gloria (Harold) Greene, East River St. Mary’s; Patsy Langille (Jim), Halifax; Betty (Basil), Charlos Cove; son John (Anne) Snyder, Alberta; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; step-children Vivian and Helen (Stanley).
She was predeceased by her common-law husband Osborne George, sisters Amanda, Elizabeth, brothers Allan, William, Albert, Charlie, grandson Bobby, son-in-law Joseph George and step-children Verena and Pearl.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 6, 2012 in St. James Anglican Church, Halfway Cove from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to Milford Haven Nursing Home, Guysborough.
