OMAN - Charles D. Oman passed away on November 14, 2009 at the age of 96 years. He died peacefully with his family by his side in Saskatoon, SK. Charlie leaves to cherish his memory; son John Oman and his children, Jesse (Tracy) Oman, Alexis (Mike) Atkinson and Thomas John Oman; son Omar Oman (Georgina Neely) and his children, Kelly Oman, Becky (Ross) Harmel , Christopher (Lee Ann) Oman, Tim (Brandy) Oman; as well as seven great grandchildren. Charlie was predeceased by his parents Alex and Mamie Oman, brother George, sister Nellie Gunderson and his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy. Charlie was born in Swift Current on July 25, 1913 and raised on the family farm in the Dunelm District S.E. 1/4 Sec 22 Twp 14 range 14. As a young man during the great depression, he rode the rails to Vancouver and found employment as a truck driver and later at Burrard Dry Docks. He returned to Swift Current to help with the family farm and started his lasting career as a journeyman carpenter. He enjoyed all sports, including learning the game of golf at age 77. Charlie trained horses and competed in the Saskatchewan Cutting Horse Association for many years. The family name is perpetuated in Oman School, which was named after his grandparents. A graveside service was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Pastoral Assistant
