NEW GLASGOW – Joan Mary Louise MacLeod, 88, of Duke St., New Glasgow, passed away on Friday, Nov. 20, at Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow.
Born in Halifax, April 6, 1921, the eldest of 10, to the late Rev. T.E. McLennan and wife Helen. Joan was raised in the Annapolis Valley and moved to Stellarton in her late teens.
She married Don MacLeod and they moved to their home of many years on Duke St. in New Glasgow.
Joan managed the Pharmacy at the Aberdeen Hospital for much of her professional career. She was active in the United Church Women at Trinity United Church, New Glasgow.
After retirement she traveled extensively to western Canada and Europe to visit family (always with a crossword puzzle at hand),
Predeceased by her loving and doting husband, Don, she is survived by sons, Bill and Tom, their wives, Sylvia and Martha; grandchildren: Heather, Rod, Glennis, Cory, Calum and, all of British Columbia; her sisters, Jean and Sharon; and her brothers: Bruce, John, Donald, George, Laird, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Church,151 Temperance St., New Glasgow, on Sat., Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. Reception to follow.
The immediate family will hold a private gathering in Vancouver.
