Passed in: Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: November 23rd, 2009
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Theresa Muriel Bailey (Richards) on Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at home, after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nora (O’Toole) Richards.
She was a member of St. Pius X parish, Sydney Mines.
Theresa enjoyed walking, camping and nature, especially birds.
During the last couple of weeks, during our mother’s illness, she was confined to her bed, suffering in silence, never uttering one complaint. She amazed everyone around her with her smile, her strength and courage, and her undying positive attitude. Her inner strength gave us the ability to smile and remain positive on a daily basis as we greeted her each day in her room. She made a lasting and unforgettable impression with her unselfish motherly instinct to protect us. Our strength in the future will be guided through her amazing attempt to survive her illness.
May the Lord, his angels and servants protect her like she tried to protect us with her unforgettable and amazing strength and most of all her persistent will to live.
Theresa is survived by her companion, Sidney Tremblett; daughters, Wanda (Billy) Dicks, Georges River, Brenda (Edward) MacDonald, Sydney Mines, Glenda Bailey, Mississauga, Ont., and Verna (Grant) Bailey, North Sydney. She is also survived by grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters, Edith Foster, Joan (Lawrence) Hurley, Marion (Johnny) Bushnik and Verna (Cameron) MacNeil; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Theresa was predeceased by her loving husband Stanley (Tuller) Bailey, brother, Joseph Richards and sister, Shirley Clarke.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main Street, Sydney Mines. A memorial mass to celebrate Theresa’s life will take place Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. The burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Donations in Theresa’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to palliative care.
