BROADFOOT-Ione Marie late of Birch Hills, SK. On Sunday November 22nd, 2009 Ione passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving husband and children. Ione was born July 20, 1945 in Melfort, SK. She spent her early childhood in Meskanaw moving to Birch Hills with her mom and six brothers when she was 14. It was here she met the love of her life Vern and they were marred on December 4th, 1965. Together they raised their four children, Vikki, Michelle, Todd, and Tara on the farm at Birch Hills. She was a loving mother and a very proud, supportive, and special “Grandma Ione†to her grandchildren Christine, Chad, Derek, Brittany, Caleb, Danika, Meredith, Kahlila, and Mya and her two great grandchildren Aiden and Alexis. Each and every one had a special place in her heart and were her pride and joy. Ione took great pride in her work as a special care aid at Birchview Nursing Home and considered her co-workers there “family†as well as the residents. She worked there until illness forced her to retire in 2007. The family she had there continued to be a source of friendship and support for her in her battle with cancer during the past two years. Ione is survived by her husband of 44 years Vern, children Vikki (Elston) Macfie, Michelle (Michael) Tarry, Todd (Michelle) Broadfoot, and Tara (Curtis) Gariepy.
