DEVINDERJIT KAUR TAKHAR

Born In: Afghanistan

Passed in: Afghanistan

(Allowal, India)
Sept. 15, 1955 - Nov. 21, 2009

We are saddened to announce that Devinderjit Kaur Takhar passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 21, 2009.

She was born in a village (Atta) and grew up in Jandiala where she completed her studies, and at the age of 17 was married.

She was a family loving lady who always took care of others. She stood as a pillar in the family and taught her children in hard times, and taught them the moral values of humanity. Devinderjit was very charming and sometimes made faces to make her family smile. She visited England to meet her parents and then America. After a separation of 10 years, she came to Canada to live with her son, but unfortunately luck was not with her, and she only had 5 months and 6 days before passing away, after a long illness. No one can fill the loss which we have faced. A strong, honest, hard working woman, she will always remain in our hearts.

She will be missed by her husband Avtar Singh Takhar, her son Sukhjeevan Singh Takhar and daughter-in-law Kulwinder Kaur Takhar, her grandson Hardilpreet Singh Takhar and granddaughters Jasmeet and Navleen Takhar; her daughter Navjeet Takhar and her mother Bimal Johal of the United Kingdom. Also left to cherish her memory, her brothers Gurpal (Rashpal) Johal, Hardev (Resham) Johal, Harneck (Baljit) Johal and Gurmail (Surinder) Johal and seven nephews and four nieces, Charanjit & Manjit Aujla, Sandhu, Hothi and Malhi families.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Schoening Funeral Chapel, 513 Seymour Street. Cremation to follow at Pine Grove Crematorium.
