God looked around His garden and saw an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth and saw Jo’s tired face. He heard her say to her children, “I’m ready to go; I’m just waiting for God to find a place for me”. On January 4, 2012, with great joy, Josephine Joy of Stephenville Crossing, left this world and entered her place in God’s garden and joined her beloved husband David. Jo leaves behind family and friends who will miss her. Family includes her children: Michael (Donna) of Pasadena, Eileen (Bob) Underwood of Florida, Edward (Ruth) of Nova Scotia and Francis (Kathy) of Stephenville. Her grandchildren: Jackie Joy of Toronto, Judy Joy-Mercer of Clark’s Beach, NL, David James Joy of Kabul, Afghanistan, Matthew, Katherine and Michael Joy of Nova Scotia, Jennifer Joy of Labrador, Adam Tucker of Florida, great-grandchild, Dana Joy of Nova Scotia. Her sisters: Margaret Bris Bois of Stephenville, Dallas Gaultois of Beverly Hills, CA, Lynn (Jim) Thornton of Annapolis, MD. She was preceded in death by David, her beloved husband in 1987, by her father Joseph Anton Gaultois, her mother, Rose Brighter Gaultois; her brothers: Michael, George Francis, Leo and Harold Gaultois, her sisters: Annie Gaultois (Mercy Sister Theresa Helena), Emma Gaultois, Catherine Sarcus and Marie Byrnes. After Jo’s mother, Rose “Nana” Gaultois, died in May 1980, Jo became the matriarch of the extended Gaultois family. A multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws came to her with their joys and troubles, with their children and grandchildren, with their spouses and friends. She welcomed and listened to all. Jo’s ministry in life is known to anyone who visited her home in Stephenville Crossing. Her hospitality is legendary. When you visited her home, she provided you food for your body and calm for your soul; when you left, you took with you, cookies and casseroles or bags of goodies. She gave to all. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Russell’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing . Wake and family visitation will be held at Russell’s Funeral Home, Station Road, Stephenville Crossing on Saturday, January 7th from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, January 8th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Assumption Catholic Church in Stephenville Crossing at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 9th.
