It is with great sadness that the family of the late Eugene Forsey Simmons announce his passing at his residence on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at the age of 88 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Phyllis of Gallants, sons: George (Tana) of Bay Roberts, Gerry (Elaine) of Corner Brook, granddaughters: Elizabeth (Darren Jenner) of Calmar, AB, Krista (Michael Pittman) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Catherine of Bay Roberts, great granddaughter Claire of Bay Roberts, sister Beulah of Mount Pearl, brother Eric of Stephenville Crossing, also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Mary and George Simmons, son Paul, sisters: Marjorie, Anne, Muriel, and brother George. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Saturday, January 7, 2012 from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. A private funeral service will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 1 P.M. Interment to take place at a later date. Eugene proudly served as a Veteran of World War 2, NL Overseas Forestry Unit from the years of 1941-1946. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
