George Jabalee
JABALEE, GEORGE P. P.ENG. - 1922 – 2012 - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear father at The Moncton Hospital on Friday morning, January 6, 2012. Beloved husband of the late Evelyn Jabalee (December 28, 2010). George was born in North Sydney, NS, son of the late Joseph and Bertha (Campbell) Jabalee. He enlisted in 1941 and served overseas in Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, England and Germany with the Army (RCEME) attached to the 5th Armour Brigade supported by the 1st Division. After returning home in 1946, he attended St. Francis Xavier University and Nova Scotia Tech where he received an Electrical Engineering degree. He joined Nova Scotia Power Commission in Liverpool, NS as Network Engineer for the Southwest Shore. He was active in the community with the Legion and was Charter President of the Lions Club. George joined Transport Canada in Moncton and retired in 1985 as Regional Superintendent of Electrical Installations (Construction Branch). He was an active member of the Catholic Church and an avid golfer. He enjoyed his later years at Camden Place and People’s Park Tower, especially jamming with his buddies on the harmonica. He made many friends there and the fellows at “Table 50” were special to him. He lived every moment of his life for his family and will be greatly missed and cherished by many. George will be sadly missed by his daughters, Georgina (Bert), and Denyse (Cyril); sons, Phil (Bernie) and John (Guylaine); grandsons, Andrew (Rachel) and Joshua; granddaughters, Karen (Matthew) and Jennifer; great grandson, Cameron; special friend, Grace Gibbs and many nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents and his wife, Evelyn, he was predeceased by two infant grandsons. The family extends a heartfelt thank you and appreciation to Dr. John Li, the doctors and nurses of The Moncton Hospital Palliative Care, particularly Dr. Pat Phelan and Dr. Lisa Searle. “You are all earth angels.”
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Mass at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, Monday, January 9, 2012, 11:00 am, Rev. Michael Toner officiating. Reception in the Parish Hall following the Mass. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney, NS.
