The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I., on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012 of "Rose" Marie Deighan (nee O'Keefe) of Summerside, aged 84 years. Rose was born on Nov. 19, 1927, in Grand Falls, Nfld., to her late parents Charles and Mary (nee Griffin) O'Keefe. Beloved wife of the late Charles W. Deighan and loving mother of Gertrude (Mike) Trainor of Shamrock, Sheila (Joe) Laughlin of Summerside, Ernest of Summerside, Charles (So-Hee) of Charlottetown, Ronald of Summerside, Helen Beach of Greenwood, N.S., and Colin (Stephanie) of Toronto, Ont. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Keefe and Angela Deighan, Ryan, Andrew and Alisha Laughlin, Ian, Griffin and Janet Beach, Bridget and Clara Deighan and many nieces and nephews. Survived by her sisters Monica McNeill of Summerside and Ann O'Keefe of Truro, N.S., her brothers and sisters in-law Sister Mary Deighan, Greg (Pauline) Deighan, Ethel (Austin) Pendergast, Kay Coady, Frank (Carol) Deighan, Isabel Tuck, Sabina Keefe and Rita Stanych, Bea Deighan and Herb DeLong. Besides her parents and husband, Rose was predeceased by her daughters Elaine and Rosemary, brothers Cyril and Bernard and sisters Gertrude DeLong and Marie Shallow. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Tuesday, Jan. 10, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place the church cemetery. Visiting hours on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations in Rose's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
