It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of our mother Shirley L. Jackson, 74, a resident of Charlotte Street, Sydney and formerly of Ontario, on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at her home.
Born in Brockville, Ont., Shirley was the daughter of the late Bruce and Lillian (Moore) Jackson.
She moved to Sydney from Ontario two years ago to be with her daughter and grandchildren. Shirley was a registered nurse and worked in the health care system in her younger years. She loved reading and cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Jackson (Paul Lovett), Beechmont; and her son, Charles (Myrna), Greely, Ont.; and her seven grandchildren, Emma, Sarah, Hanna, Kyle Jackson and Nathan, Jackson and Spencer Lovett; her sister, Carolyn (Jim) Sorrell, Cardinal, Ont.; and two brothers, Ronnie (Brenda) Jackson and Larry Jackson, both of Kingston, Ont.
Besides her parents Shirley was predeceased by her partner, Garry O’Gorman.
Cremation has taken place. Her ashes will be returned to Ontario where a funeral service will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
