(nee Whitten) Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre in the presence of her loving family, Mildred Thorne of Torbay, age 95. She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Margaret Whitten; husband Edwin and her three brothers: Clyde, Jack and Gordon; two sisters-in-law Edith and Dorothy and brother-in-law Jack Janes. Leaving to mourn her passing and to celebrate her long life seven children: Wilson (Sheila), Clayton (Phyllis), Cynthia, Norval (Clare), Sandra (Jim), Gleniss (Paul) and her very special daughter Lynn; her sister Phyllis Janes and brother Milton (Jean); sister-in-law Agnes. Also eleven grandchildren: Rhonda, Arlene, Sherrell, Rodney, Darrin, Karen, Jill, Neil, Joanne, Robyn and Amanda; thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; special niece Margie Hanlon (Ed), along with a large circle of other family and friends. Mildred was a kind and gentle person whose greatest love was her family. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Tuesday, February 26 from 12 noon to 9 p.m.; Wednesday, February 27 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, February 28 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Nicholas Anglican Church, Torbay. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery.
