NICKERSON, EMERY - Emery Victor Nickerson, loving husband of Valerie Nickerson passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1926 in Yarmouth, NS he was the son of the late Albert and Dorothy (Goodwin) Nickerson. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son Ken Nickerson; daughter-in-law Bonnie (Beck) Nickerson; and sister Elizabeth (Betty) White. Emery worked in the Maintenance Department for UNBSJ for 17 years, retiring in 1991. Emery and Valerie were founding members of Bethany Pentecostal Church (North Side Assembly). His heart was always in the South Shore, NS; he was a proud lobster fisherman and loved all things to do with the sea. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, attending the Sea Dogs games and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides his loving wife and best friend Valerie of 64 years, he is survived by son William Nickerson (Hilda) of Saint John; grandchildren Timothy Nickerson (Tracy), Stephen Nickerson (Mandie), Christina Nickerson, Heidi Smith (Kevin) and Lewanna Nickerson; great grandchildren Kathyrn, Sarah, Madison, Alex, Michelle and Rylee; special niece Coral Brannen (the late Robert “Bob” Brannen); great nieces Dr. Cyndi Brannen of Dartmouth, NS and Anjali Brannen of Saint John; great great nephews TJ, Aidan and Milo; several nieces and nephews.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery.
