Cyril Dunlop MacQueen, age 86, of Sydney, died peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Norman and Mary (Chisholm) MacQuinn. He was a member of St. Anthony Daniel parish, Sydney.
Cyril served overseas in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. He was an employee at the Sydney Steel Corporation in the mechanical department, retiring in 1991 after 44 years of service.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by several neices, nephews, grandneices, and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Bernard, and William and three sisters, Anne Richardson, Catherine, and Mary Burke.
There will be no visitation for the late Mr. MacQueen. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in St. Anthony Daniel Church with Rev. Paul McGillvray officiating. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
