Gertrude Mary "Gertie" Taylor (nee Ridgeley)

Passed peacefully away on January 8, 2012, at her daughter’s residence, in the presence of her loving family, Gertrude Taylor age 85 years. Predeceased by her husband Hedley (November 21, 2001); parents Edward (1963) and Mary Anne Ridgeley (1972); son-in-law Jim Evans; granddaughter Lynn Anne Evans; six brothers; and three sisters. Gertie was the last surviving child of Edward and Mary Ridgeley. Left with many fond and loving memories are daughters: Gertie, Carol Anne (Jerry Yetman), Rosemarie (Joe Farewell), Marilyn (Hubert Best), and son: David (Karen); 8 cherished and much loved grandchildren: Aurelie (Kevin Sampietro), Jennifer (Scott Tizzard), Cheryl (Paul Oake), Mark Evans (Helena), Amanda Best, Jessica Best, Melissa Taylor (Jeff), and Alicia Taylor; 5 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Jesse, Clare, Madison, and Brooklyn; sisters-in-law: Marion Downton, Ruby Haley, Dot Ridgeley, Alma Ridgeley, and Sandra Taylor; brothers-in-law: Fred Taylor, David (Eleanor) Taylor, Harold (Marilyn) Taylor, and Graham Snelgrove; as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends - including special neighbours Max and Audrey Harris, and special niece Anne Gallagher. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave., on Monday, January 9, and Tuesday, January 10, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Teresa’s Parish on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 11 am, with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
