
Gordon Henry Dickie
Dickie, Gordon Henry – 85, Central Onslow passed away quietly January 8, 2012 in Williams Country Home, Hilden. Born in Onslow, he was a son of the late Walter and Hilda Dickie. Gordon lived and farmed in Onslow his entire life and was very interested in breeding and showing his Holsteins. He showed his cattle throughout the Maritimes and at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. Gordon was still tending his calves at the age of 80. He also owned and trained horses at the Truro Raceway for many years. He was very interested in the 4-H Program. Gordon was very good natured, enjoyed life and with his brother, Vaughan for many years ran the always popular “Dickie Brothers Barn Dances”. He is survived by his wife, Mary “Frances” (Audas); step-daughters, Linda Yuill, Ginger (Gerry) MacCallum, both of Central Onslow; step-son, Tony (Yolanda) Gillis, Central Onslow; sister, Estelle Rector; brothers, Carl (Vera), Vaughan (Brenda), Peter (Ann); grandchildren, Brian, Krista, Holly, Mark: great-grandchildren, Cole, Lane, Sage, Mason; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Doreen Hunter; brothers, Stratton, Keith and Doug. No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 11 at 2:00 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Gerald Kerr officiating.
