THELMA EDITH GRIMSDICK

THELMA EDITH GRIMSDICK

October 9, 1917 ~ December 23, 2011
Thelma passed away peacefully with husband Bob and daughter Judy by her side in the late afternoon of December 23.
Thelma was predeceased by her parents, John and Florence Delany, her husband John Troughton, son Alan Troughton, sister Ethel Ellis and brother William Delany.
She is survived by husband Bob and his family; daughter Judy MacIsaac; four grandchildren: Kevin (Lori) Troughton, David (Michelle) Troughton, Keith MacIsaac and Gail (Russ) Illingworth; and six great-grandchildren, Kara and Cole Troughton, Caitlin and Jessica Troughton, and Carli and Cameron Illingworth.
Thelma was born in Lethbridge, Alberta and later in her childhood the family moved to Vancouver’s West End where Thelma lived until meeting John Troughton in the Accounting Department at Woodward’s. They married in 1938 and settled in Kitsilano where they raised their family. John passed away suddenly in 1958. Thelma returned to the work force employed in the Accounting Department of the Vancouver Waterboard. Thelma and Bob married in the fall of 1971 and together spent many happy years building a home together on the Sunshine Coast, entertaining friends and family, boating and fishing on Cheeky, square-dancing with the S.C. Country Stars and travelling to many parts of the world.
Thelma was one of the first residents in Cedar Cottage at Christenson Village. She later moved into Complex Care to be nearer Bob. The family extends our sincere gratitude for the loving care Thelma received from her wonderful “angel” caregivers.
Thelma will be remembered for her kind spirit and love of music. A celebration of her life will be held at Christenson Village on Sunday, January 22, at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC or the charity of your choice.
