It is with deep regret and great sadness that we, the family announce the sudden passing of John Campbell, at home, on Monday, Nov. 23, 2009.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rhoda (White) Campbell.
He was employed with Municipal Ready Mix as a heavy equipment operator.
He enjoyed life to the fullest. He was an avid NASCAR fan, he loved anything that moved, cars, trucks, boats and motorhomes. He enjoyed camping.
John was well known for his big smile and friendly wave. He will be missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his son, Stephen Campbell (Carrie), Ottawa; life partner, Virginia MacSween, her children, Charlotte, Michelle, Jennifer and Paula. He is also survived by his sister, Laura (Conrad) Pink, Howie Centre; brother, Edward (Della) Campbell, Sydney; as well as his nieces and nephews, Lindsay, Terry, Nicole, Crystal, Brianna and Joey.
Besides his parents, Joseph and Rhoda, he was predeceased by his wife, Velma (McComber) and a brother, Terry in infancy.
Visitation will take place (today) Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sheldon Chant officiating. Interment to follow in Stella Maris Church Cemetery, Louisbourg.
