SMITH, LEOLA - Leola May Smith, 94, of the Jordan Life Care Centre and formerly Monteagle, passed away Monday, January 9, 2012 at her residence. Born in Monteagle, Leola was the daughter of the late Thomas and Alice (Neal) Lewis. She was a retired cook, a longtime member of the Second North River Baptist Church and WMS. Leola also belonged the Second North River Womens Institute. Leola is survived and missed by her daughters Sylvia Smith of Moncton, Marlene (Elzie) Beaman of Indian Mountain; sons Richard (Gayle) of Albert County, Norman (Judy) of Edgetts Landing, Pastor Dennis (Donna) of Second North River and Larry (Marsha) of Monteagle; sister Rachel (late Abel) Lewis of Jordan Life Care Centre; brother Freeman (Stella) Lewis of Monteagle; sister in law Joyce Lewis of Monteagle; 22 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, a great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband John (1984); sisters Flora Lewis, Hazel Dobson, Sadie Lutes, Vera Lewis and infant sister Rachel; brothers Donald, Oliver, Ray, Harold, John, George and Alfred.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral will be held at Second North River Baptist Church Thursday at 2 pm with Rev. Mark Hunter officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations if desired to the Second North River Church, Jordan Life Care Centre or the Red Cross would be appreciated by the family.
