Paul Hawley, age 83, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 9th, 2012 at his home in Birch Grove.
Paul was born in Ingonish, Cape Breton.
He worked as a lumberjack for many years throughout the Cape Breton Region. Paul loved to watch hockey; his favourite team was the Montreal Canadiens. He greatly enjoyed building model lobster traps and trinkets for his family and friends and was also known to be a great story teller. He would tell stories of his many adventures of working in the woods as a lumberjack. Paul also had a great love for animals; especially his dog, 'Bear'. But mostly, Paul will be remembered as a gentle and quiet man.
He is survived by his common law wife, Lucy Jesso; step daughter, Debbie MacKinnon (Tim), Halifax; stepson, Stephen Boudreau, Birch Grove; step grandchildren, Eugene, Colby, Peter, Amandarose, Ocean, Alyssa, Alexa and Stephen.
Paul was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Theresa Hunt.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. There will be no visitation or funeral service. As an expression of sympathy for Paul, online condolences to the family can be expressed through the funeral home website: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
