Passed peacefully away at the Escasoni Complex surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 10th, 2012 after a valiant and courageous battle with A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Raymond Smith, age 56 years of St. John’s, formerly of Toronto. Leaving to mourn five sisters: Genevieve Chaulk of St. John’s, Mary Smith of Grand Falls, Margaret Cheater of St. John’s, Noreen Smith of St. John’s and Eileen Rathwell of Saskatoon; as well as two brothers: Jack (Abby) of Halifax N.S. and Kevin (Dorothy) of Toronto. He will also be dearly missed and loved by a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Friday from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. A celebration of Ray’s life will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. from Caul’s Chapel with cremation to follow. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Ray’s memory may be made to the A.L.S. Society of Newfoundland & Labrador.
