GODBOUT, SISTER GERTRUDE - Sister Gertrude Godbout, in religion Sr Marie-Léonide, n.d.s.c., passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012, where she resided at the Maison-mère des Religieuses Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur, Moncton following a lengthy illness. She was 95 and in her 78th year of her religious life. Born April 13, 1916 in Drummond, NB, she was the daughter of the late Onézime and Estelle (Plourde) Godbout. Besides her religious family, she is survived by one brother, Roland Godbout, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by five sisters: Dina, Irène, Berthe, Isabelle and Rita, as well as three brothers: Georges, Claude and Roméo.
Sister Gertrude will be resting at the Notre-Dame-d’Acadie Pavillion of the Maison-mère, 125 King St., Moncton (Godfrey Lane entrance) on Sunday, January 15, from 2 to 9 p.m. and on Monday, January 16, from 9 a.m. until the funeral mass. Solemn Vespers will be held on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 16, 2012 in the Maison-mère chapel at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Memramcook.
