Harvey Craig Lewis passed away on January 12, 2012 at Extendicare Moose Jaw with his family by his side. Harvey was born on April 24, 1924 in Rouleau, Sask and grew up in the Hearne and Briercrest areas. Harvey leaves to mourn his loving wife of sixty years Helen as well as: their children Robert (Maureen), Joy (Bill) Pirlot, Karen, Craig (Shawna) and Kay (Richard) Thul; grandchildren Lorne Caines, Robbie (Lanette), Jessica (Chad) Scott, Rosalyn (Travis) McMillen, Jason (Kailey) Pirlot, Cody, Ella, Nik, Logan, Shay-Lea, Christopher Thul and Haddow Thul as well as 4 great-grandchildren and 2 more immediately on the way. Also survived by sister Marjorie West of Regina, brother and sister-in-law Dave and Audrey McDonell of Carlyle and sister-in-law Leona Lewis of Moose Jaw as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. Harvey is predeceased by his parents T. Hilliard and Sarah (nee Craig) Lewis, infant brother Harold, brothers Lloyd (Lena), Cliff (Lillian), and Wray; and brother and sister-in-law Ted and Joy Mahoney. Harvey enjoyed working with farmers around Briercrest after high school, custom combining in the southern United States, working in a munitions factory in Ontario and then back to Saskatchewan to work with his brothers in the dragline/earthmoving industry. Harvey also enjoyed a partnership in a dry cleaning business in Carlyle, SK. Earthmoving became his career operating as H. C. Lewis Contruction which lead to forming H.C.L. Construction Ltd. with son Robert in 1970 which still operates today proudly bearing his initials as the company name. Harvey was very proud of and enjoyed his membership in the Masonic Fraternities as Past Master of Doric St. George Masonic Lodge No. 71, 33rd Degree Scottish Rite, Royal Order of Scotland, Past Patron of Mizpah Chapter NO.1 Order of Eastern Star and Past President of Moose Jaw Wa Wa Shrine. Harvey and his entire family appreciate and thank all those who have cared for him this past 12 months including Caring Companions, Donna's Compassionate Care, Moose Jaw Home Care, Dr. G.B. Van Heerden and most recently the exceptional people at Moose Jaw Extendicare who cared for Harvey as he were family and made the past 8 months of his life as loving and comfortable as possible for him and immediate family. A Celebration of Harvey’s life will be held at Minto United Church, 1036 Seventh Ave. N.W., on Tuesday January 17, 2012 at 1:30 pm. Reverend John Carley will officiate. Memorialization will take place at Rosedale Columbarium. For those so wishing, donations may be made to the Wa Wa Shrine Patient Transportation Fund, 2065 Hamilton St., Regina, S4P 2E1.
